Student Paper Competition

The Student Prize Paper Award was established to recognize the best student paper(s) presented at the IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS).

Eligibility

A full list of eligibility criteria is available on the GRSS website. The first author (i.e., the finalist student) is required to register and participate in the symposium and personally present the full 4-page paper. Compliance with the Eligibility Criteria will be assessed through an online procedure.

During paper submission, select the option to enter the Student Paper Competition. Only submissions received before the deadline will be considered.

The Best 10 papers will be selected according to the procedure described in Student Prize Paper Award webpage and will be presented at IGARSS.

Papers submitted to SPC not selected as finalists, but accepted to the conference, will be scheduled for oral or poster presentation in the regular technical program.

Guidelines for Student Paper Competition (SPC) presenters

Students will present to the SPC judges in the Special Session. The format for the SPC judging session is as follows:

  • Each student will have 20 minutes allocated.
  • Use 15-16 minutes to present your slides.
  • Leave 4-5 minutes for questions from the IEEE GRSS Symposium Award Committee
  • Audience is not allowed to ask questions in the SPC sessions.

Additionally, SPC finalists will have an oral or poster presentation scheduled in the technical program.

Selection and Awards

The Symposium Award Committee will select three winners based on the oral presentation and Q&A during the SPC judging session. The first ranked will receive the Mikio Takagi Student Prize, the second and the third ranked will receive Student Prize Paper Awards. Details can be found at https://www.grss-ieee.org/resources/awards/.

The SPC awards will be conferred during the IGARSS award ceremony.
